Traffic flow is being impacted this week because of repairs to an existing sewer main off Highway 19 north of Hilo.

The Hawaiʻi County Department of Environmental Management is notifying drivers of an alternating single-lane closure on the Kapu‘e Stream Bridge, located at milepost 6.29 on Highway 19 immediately south of Pāpa‘ikou, due to the repair work.

The single-lane closure is in effect from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. through Friday.

Traffic in both directions will be maintained. Flaggers will be at the worksite to provide traffic control. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations.
