Maunakea Speaker Series Presentation by Meteorologist

The Maunakea Speaker Series announces that the next scheduled program series will be held Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at UH Hilo Science & Technology Building (STB) Room # 108. This exciting free lecture is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.

Ryan Lyman

Ryan Lyman will discuss the history, and provide an overview of the products and services of the Maunakea Weather Center. In addition, he will share his knowledge on the construction of a custom weather forecast for the Maunakea Observatories, with particular emphasis on atmospheric turbulence and ‘Seeing.’

Born and raised in Hilo, Lyman has an undergraduate and Masters degree in Meteorology from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. He has been the Forecast Meteorologist for the Maunakea Weather Center for over 15 years.
