1st Annual Waimea Preparathon Scheduled
The 1st Annual Waimea Preparathon is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, from 9 a.m. to noon at Kuhio Hale.
This emergency preparedness fair that is part of the FEMA Preparathon program.
This is a free, fun, family community event. No alcohol and no smoking.
Emergency preparation is the focus and we have government agencies, companies and individuals who are passionate about preparing for disasters, and helping to make households and individuals more prepared to handle the unexpected.

- CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) members
- Red Cross Disaster Services
- Waimea Fire Department & Paramedics
- Mauna Kea Beach Resort
- North Hawaii Community Hospital
- Civil Air Patrol Kona Composite Squadron
- Six Eagles Emergency Essentials
- HELCO
- Ready Store
- Costco
- Sunrun
Community members will also share their specialized mana‘o about being prepared.
Half-hour long workshops activities will highlight safety, supplies and preparing for and surviving a disaster presented by community members, companies and government agencies.
The event is made possible by donations and support from: Hawai‘i Emergency Management Agency, CERT members, Red Cross Disaster Services, Waimea Fire Department & Paramedics, Mauna Kea Beach Resort, KTA Super Stores, North Hawai‘i Community Hospital, state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, Six Eagles, Emergency Essentials, Costco, The Waimea UPS Store, Sunrun, Ready Store, Kaleau Electric Corporation and several enthusiastic community members.
