The Department of Water Supply will temporarily shut off water services along Andrews Avenue, between Nahale Avenue and Desha Avenue in Hilo, on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

According to DWS, the water shut-off in the area is necessary for the installation of a new waterline connection for the Desha Avenue Waterline Replacement project.

Once water resumes, the waterlines will be flushed and cleaned and customers in the area may notice turbid or discolored water.

Air trapped in plumbing may also be noticed, but will be released as water is used.

Customers in the area should take necessary precautions to protect their property and facilities, including disabling electric power to pumps and other devices that are dependent on water pressure or supply.
