Lopes-Keli was taken into custody after being spotted by officers as a passenger of a car in the parking lot of a building on Rainbow Drive in Hilo just after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The driver, 23-year-old Waikoloa woman Michaela Pacyao, was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear.
As officers attempted to arrest the pair, Lopes-Keli reportedly attempted to retrieve a semi-automatic pistol from the vehicle. The weapon was removed by officers, and after a short foot chase, Lopes-Keli was arrested.

The pair was taken to the Hilo police cellblock as Area I Criminal Investigations Section detectives continued to investigate the incident.
Later Saturday, Pacyao was charged with failure to appear. Her bail was set at $150.
Lopes-Keli was charged with escape, violating terms of furlough, terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, promoting a dangerous drug, possessing a detrimental drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, and five firearms offenses. He was returned to HCCC with no bail on the furlough violation charge. The remaining charges have a bail set at $104,000.

Pacyao and Lopes-Keli were both scheduled to make their initial court appearances on Monday.
