An assault that stemmed from a confrontation in the parking lot of Walmart in Hilo Wednesday is being investigated by the Hawai’i Police Department.

HPD reports that at about 3:32 p.m., South Hilo officers responded to the parking lot, where they found 32-year-old David James Nall being restrained by other individuals.

Nall, who has no permanent address, was initially arrested by police for disorderly conduct.

A 34-year old man was later located. He told police that he and an unknown man, later determined to be Nall, had been in a physical confrontation and that the man had used a knife to assault him.

Police added second-degree assault, second-degree terroristic threatening, and fourth-degree criminal property damage to Nall’s offenses.

Nall is being held at the Hilo police cellblock as Area I Criminal Investigation Section detectives continue to investigate the incident.
