Pair Charged in HPP Burglary Attempt
Felony offenses were charged to a man and a woman who were found during a burglary in progress along 11th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park on Oct. 5.
Puna patrol officers responded to an 8:05 a.m. report of an active burglary. Once , officers encountered the suspects, 19-year-old China-Lyn Almeida and 46-year-old Jarrett Hanato, both of Kea’au.
The pair was reportedly in possession of property they had stolen from the home of a 51-year-old woman.
Officers arrested Almeida and Hanato and took them to the Hilo police cellblock.
At the police station, police executed a search warrant on Almeida’s purse, where they recovered marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
On Oct. 6, HPD charged Almeida with first-degree burglary, promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a detrimental drug, possessing drug paraphernalia, and unsworn falsification to authorities, an offense charged for giving false information about her identity.
Alemida’s bail was set at $9,750.
Hanato was charged with first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $5,000.
