The unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle offense was for a moped that was taken from a home on Kahakai Road in Kailua-Kona on Aug. 23.
Afu was taken to the Kona police cellblock as Area II Criminal Investigations Section continued to investigate.
On Wednesday, Afu appeared in court for the probation violation charge. He is being held without bail for the probation violation charge.
After he appeared in court Wednesday, Afu was returned to the Kona cellblock.
At 12 p.m., Afu was charged with two counts of theft, one for the backpack and the other for a different moped theft, that occurred on Walua Road in Kailua-Kona on July 8.
Afu’s bail was set at $20,000 for the backpack and moped incidents. His initial court appearance on those charges is set for Thursday.
