DWS: Power Cost Charges Expected to Drop
Power cost charges will decrease, according to the Department of Water Supply. Customers can expect to see the charge drop from $2.32 per 1,000 gallons of water used to $1.85.
The PCC is one part of a customer’s water bill and is applied to each 1,000 gallons used by the customer for fluctuations in the cost of energy that is necessary to operate the water system.
DWS notes that an average residential customer using 20,000 gallons of water per two-month billing cycle will see savings of almost $10 per bill.
The public was invited to an Aug. 25 public hearing in Kona regarding the changes.
Under 2009 rules adopted by the State Water Board, PCC charges can be adjusted every two months.
