The Hawai’i State Judiciary is preparing for its annual mailing of juror questionnaires.

Each August, the State Judiciary sends the questionnaires to individuals who have a Hawai’i state driver’s license and who are registered to vote in the state of Hawai’i.

It’s estimated that about 235,000 juror questionnaires will be mailed throughout the state, 70,000 of which will be distributed on the Big Island.

Questionnaires are used to help select potential jurors who may be eligible to serve in 2016.

Individuals who receive a questionnaire are required to complete and return it to the Jury Pool Office. Those who do not respond could face potential penalties.

Potential jurors must be over the age of 18, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Hawai’i, and must be able to read and understand English.
