Scheduled Lane Closures May 26-29

The following temporary road closures have been announced by the State of Hawai’i Department of Transportation for Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29 between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Along Route 19, also known as Hawai’i Belt Road, alternating single lane closures will occur in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway, in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch. The closure will occur as roadway improvements take place.

Near the Laupahoehoe Gulch, along Highway 19, a single lane alternating closure will take place. Roadway improvements will cause the closure between Jardine Road and Puualaea Homestead Road.

Roadway pavement reconstruction will cause alternating single lane closures along a portion of Highway 19 between Papaikou and Wainaku, between mile marker 7.8 and mile marker 4.

From Pepeekeo to Hakalau, a single lane closure will occur in both directions as roadway improvements are made. The closures will take place between mile markers 10 and 15.6 along Highway 19.

Continuous activity on Umauma Bridge in Hakalau will cause alternating lane closures on Route 19, near mile marker 16, to remain on a seven-day-a-week, twenty-four-hour schedule as bridge rehabilitation work is underway. Speed on the bridge is reduced to 20 miles per hour.

All lane closures are weather permitting and have the possibility of changing without notice.
