Police Investigate Fern Acres Murder

A murder investigation is underway by the Hawai’i Police Department in connection to an incident that occurred Saturday morning in Puna.

According to police, officers responded at 9:15 a.m. to the Fern Acres subdivision after a report of a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, officers found a 47-year-old man unconscious and being treated my medics. The man was taken to Hilo Medical Center and later died.

HPD arrested the victim’s 18-year-old son, who has been identified as Forrest Keesler, on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Keesler was taken to the Hilo police cellblock as Area I Criminal Investigation Section detectives continue to investigate the incident.
