Wanted Hilo Man Arrested, Charged

A Hilo man wanted on warrants and for questioning in a terroristic threatening investigation has been located by the Hawai’i Police Department.

According to HPD, 23-year-old Kalyp Rapoza was arrested Friday night. Following his arrest, he was charged with contempt of court, violating terms of release, and discharge of sureties.

In addition, Rapoza was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threatening.

Officers took Rapoza to the Hilo police cellblock as detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued to investigate an April 23 incident, where Rapoza allegedly threatened neighbors on Kawailani Street in Hilo.

Rapoza was charged in the threatening incident on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. He faces a charge of first-degree terroristic threatening.

Bail was set at $10,000 for Rapoza, and his initial court appearance is set for Monday.
