Woman Arrested, Man Wanted in Hilo Theft
A Hawai’i Police Department investigation of a jewelry theft that occurred last summer in Hilo has led to the arrest of one individual as police continue to search for another.
Authorities allege that a man and a woman removed $10,741 worth of jewelry from a store on Maka’ala Street in Hilo on Aug. 22 of last year.
While investigating, police determined the identity of the woman as 50-year-old Regina Stephens of Hilo. She was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Hilo police cellblock as detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continued the investigation.
Regina Stephens was charged Thursday morning with second-degree theft and her bail was set at $2,000.
Police continue to search for 41-year-old Paul K. Stevens of Hilo, who they believe is also connected to the case. He has been described as 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
