Hilo Man Faces Assault Charge

A Hilo man has been charged with three offenses in connection with an assault Saturday in Hilo.

According to a police report, Joshua Resun, 31, was arrested about 9:20 p.m. Saturday in relation to the crime.

Police say at 7 p.m. that evening, a 23-year-old Hilo man said that while he was in a parked vehicle off Piopio Street, an acquaintance struck him in the arm with a metal object and threatened him.

Resun was later taken to jail for investigation.

At 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Resun was charged with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, third-degree assault and second-degree terroristic threatening.

His bail was set at $3,000 and he remained in custody until his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
