Schatz, Hanabusa to Debate at Hilo’s Sangha Hall
US Sen. Brian Schatz and Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, the leading candidates to fill out the remaining two-year term of the late Sen. Daniel Inouye, will appear at a public forum next month in Hilo.
The forum, the only one currently scheduled for the two candidates on the Big Island, will be held Wednesday, July 2, at the Sangha Hall on Kilauea Street.
The two will face off in the Democratic primary to be held Saturday, Aug. 9.
The forum will be moderated by Sherry Bracken, Public Affairs Director, Mahalo Broadcasting and host of the Sunday radio interview show “Island Issues.”
Questions will not be taken from the audience at the event but can be submitted in advance via email at [email protected] or [email protected].
The forum will be broadcast live on radio station LAVA 105.3 FM and online at www.hawaii247.com from 6:30-8 p.m.
Food, snacks and drinks will be available for sale at the event.
The League of Women Voters will be at the forum to provide voter registration.
Sign waving will not be allowed on the Sangha Hall or Hilo Hongwanji property, and campaign signs will not be allowed in the hall.
