Construction will begin Tuesday on installation of new children’s playground equipment at two Hilo parks.

The Waiakea-Uka Park on Ainaola Drive will be the first to receive the equipment. The work will shift on Thursday, Feb. 20, to Gilbert Carvalho Park on Waianuenue Avenue.

While both parks will remain open during the construction, existing playground equipment will be removed and work areas will be fenced.
