Department of Health launches mobile app to help Hawaiʻi quit tobacco
The Quitlogix app is a new tool that offers free, HIPAA-compliant tobacco cessation support on the smartphone.
A new evidence-based mobile app makes it easier than ever for adults to access free tobacco cessation support directly from their smartphones.
The Hawaiʻi Department of Health launched the Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline mobile app, called Quitlogix, which offers the same services as the Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline online program.
The Quitlogix app is Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-compliant and is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play starting today.
“The way people access health care continues to evolve and our tobacco cessation services must evolve with it,” said Leslie Yap, Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline coordinator. “The app provides flexible, personalized support that meets people where they are, making it more convenient for Hawaiʻi residents to access proven tools that can help them quit for good.”
The launch reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to evidence-based tobacco treatment services and reducing barriers that prevent people from successfully quitting.
Research consistently shows that individuals who use evidence-based cessation support, including behavioral counseling and digital tools, are significantly more likely to quit successfully than those who attempt to quit without assistance.
Hawaiʻi Tobacco Quitline services, including free nicotine patches, gum, and lozenges, and custom support to quit smoking, vaping, or other tobacco products, continue to be available by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW or visiting the website.
The Quitlogix app is available at the Apple and Android app stores.
