No major power outages as of Friday afternoon as Hurricane Nolo approaches
Hawaiian Electric continues around-the-clock monitoring of Hurricane Nolo as the storm approaches the state.
There were no major outages on Hawaiʻi County, Maui County or on Oʻahu as of 3:30 p.m. Friday; however, saturated ground conditions from recent rainfall continue to increase the risk of falling trees and vegetation-related damage to electrical equipment — even in areas not experiencing the strongest winds.
The utility company also continues encouraging customers to remain prepared for possible outages as Nolo is expected to unleash strong winds and heavy rain.
Customers should ensure emergency supplies are stocked and phones as well as other essential devices are charged in preparation for possible extended outages from severe weather impacts.
Hawaiian Electric crews, contractors and support staff remain ready to respond as conditions allow.
Additional resources — including line crews, support personnel and drone pilots via Western Region Mutual Assistance Group — are also ready to deploy, should they be needed, that can assist with damage assessments and repairs.
Hawaiian Electric’s restoration process, if outages happen, is designed to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
