Hilo man arrested, charged following report of child with suspicious injuries
Hawai‘i Island police arrested a 38-year-old Hilo man in connection with a report of a Hilo child with suspicious injuries.
Bradley Young was arrested Sept. 22 following an incident that morning and subsequently charged Sept. 23 for felony abuse in the presence of a minor and misdemeanor abuse.
His total bail was set at $7,000. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Sept. 24 in Hilo Family Court, if he does not post bail.
Hawai‘i Police Department South Hilo Patrol officers responded at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a boy with suspicious injuries at a location in the 2400 block of Kīlauea Avenue in Hilo. Detectives by early that afternoon identified Bradley Young as a suspect in the investigation, which was classified as abuse of a family or household member in the presence of a minor.
An all-points bulletin was issued for Young’s arrest. Officers made numerous attempts to locate and contact him, with negative results.
Young turned himself in at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hilo Police Station following additional communication with him.
The investigation was initiated by the South Hilo Patrol officers and then continued by detectives Hawai‘i Police Department Area I Juvenile Aid Section.
