President & CEO of Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi to retire early next year

Hilton R. Raethel of the Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi announced he will retire in January after nearly a decade as president and CEO.
Raethel is widely recognized for collaborating with county, state and federal government agencies on Hawaiʻi’s healthcare response to the COVID‐19 pandemic. During his tenure, the association expanded its advocacy, workforce efforts and community engagement, according to a news release from the association.
Raethel previously spent more than 35 years in the healthcare industry, including leadership roles at Hawaiʻi Pacific Health and Hawaiʻi Medical Service Association.
“Hilton has made a profound impact on Hawaiʻi’s full continuum of care,” said Stephanie Nadolny,
president and CEO of REHAB Hospital of the Pacific and Chair of the Board of Directors of Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi. “He has consistently grown the organization and built strong alliances on the local, state, and federal level. He leaves behind a legacy of exceptional leadership.”
Nadolny and the Board will undertake an extensive search for Raethel’s successor, the news release said.
The Healthcare Association of Hawaii is the nonprofit trade organization serving Hawai`i’s hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, Type II adult residential care homes, Medicare‐certified home health agencies, and hospices. For more information, visit HAH.org.
