Hawaiian Electric to replace utility poles in Kurtistown this week

Motorists can anticipate a one-lane closure on Volcano Road (Highway 11) between Paʻahana Street and Puko Street in Kurtistown this week.

Hawaiian Electric crews are set to replace utility poles, which will cause a one-lane closure in both directions.

The Volcano-bound lane of Volcano Road from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22. The Hilo-bound lane will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

Motorists are advised to plan for delays and to drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will provide traffic control.
