Savor a dynamic, unforgettable performance during ‘Voice of the Earth’

Enjoy an evening of taiko and two iconic traditional Japanese bamboo flutes the shakuhachi and shinobue during “Voice of the Earth” on June 20 in Hilo.

The community is invited to experience a unique taiko drumming concert, featuring Marco Lienhard with Taikoza from New York City, accompanied by local taiko groups Puna Taiko and Taishoji Taiko.

Tickets start at just $15 for this amazing performance from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Performing Arts Center, located at 342 W. Kāwili St., in Hilo.

Taikoza intertwines the deep resonance of taiko drums with the expressive shakuhachi and shinobue. Lienhard is a master of taiko and Japanese flutes, and will enrich the evening with soulful bamboo flute melodies.

Audience members will savor a dynamic, unforgettable performance celebrating Japan’s musical tradition.

Plus, a portion of the proceeds will benefit youth programs of participating taiko groups.
