22 lane closures scheduled weekdays through June 5 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 22 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on weekdays through June 5, unless otherwise noted, on Big Island state roadways.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 36 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of new striping and pavement markers.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12 and 16 in the vicinity of Ahuahu Place and North Peck Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 28 and 30 in the vicinity of Kīlauea Military Camp, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Hawaiian Electric to remove old poles and conductors.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 59 and 60.5., from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

CAPTAIN COOK TO HŌLUALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 109 and 119 in the vicinity of Koa Road and Kuakini Highway, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HŌLUALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 117 and 119 in the vicinity of Kuakini Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation and tree trimming.

KAILUA-KONA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 119 and 121 in the vicinity of Kuakini Highway and Poni Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 19

WAINAKU TO HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 3.5 and 15 in the vicinity of Chin Chuck Road, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. for striping.

WAINAKU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 3.8 and 4.1 in the vicinity of Wainaku Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for boring holes for soil samples for future projects.

HONOMŪ TO HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12 and 15 in the vicinity of Cane Road and Chin Chuck Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

PEPE‘EKEO TO NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 10 and 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31, for emergency repairs.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 17.9 and 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Bridge.

PĀPAʻALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 21 and 22 in the vicinity of Kaihuiki Road and Uweki Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge deck repairs.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 29.2 and 32 in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kāholo Stream Bridge.

KAILUA-KONA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 97 and 99 in the vicinity of Honokohau Street and Ka Iwi Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 21.8 in the vicinity of Māmalahoa Highway and Kaimū-Chain of Craters Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HIGHWAY 190

KALAʻOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 32 and 35 in the vicinity of Mākālei Drive and ʻOnaona Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming and mulching.

HIGHWAY 220

HONOMŪ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 1 to 3 in the vicinity of Stable Camp Road and Kahalona Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for sign installation.

HIGHWAY 250

KAPAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 3.7 and 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Saturday, May 30, for emergency repair work on the road caused by the March kona low.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 6.5 and 7.6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will repave the roadway.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 11 and 13 in the vicinity of Foot Path, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 270

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 2.3 and 2.9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for emergency repair work on the road caused by the March kona low.
