13 lane closures scheduled through May 29 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 13 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on weekdays through May 29 on Big Island state roadways.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 36 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of new striping and pavement markers.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 28 and 30 in the vicinity of Kīlauea Military Camp, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for Hawaiian Electric to remove old poles and conductors.

KEAʻAU TO KURTISTOWN

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 7 and 10 in the vicinity of Old Volcano Road and Hale Pule Loop, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 68 and 69.5. in the vicinity of 68 Mile Road and Red Cinder Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

CAPTAIN COOK TO HŌLUALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 109 and 119 in the vicinity of Kiloa Road and Lako Street, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HŌLUALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 118 and 119 in the vicinity of Judd Trail and Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 19

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 17.9 and 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Bridge.

NĪNOLE TO PĀPAʻALOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 20 and 24 in the vicinity of Pāpaʻaloa Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 29.2 and 32 in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kāholo Stream Bridge.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 21.8 in the vicinity of Māmalahoa Highway and Kaimū-Chain of Craters Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and applying new striping and pavement markers.

HIGHWAY 190

KALAʻOA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 30 and 33 in the vicinity of Huʻehuʻe Ranch Road and Old Government Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming and cutting vegetation.

HIGHWAY 250

KAPAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 3.7 and 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for emergency repair work on the road because of damage from the March kona low storms.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 6.5 and 7.6, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repaving the roadway.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
