No tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi after 6.8 earthquake strikes northern Chile

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Monday that there is no tsunami threat to Hawaiʻi following a strong earthquake off the coast of northern Chile.
The magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck at 11:52 a.m. on May 25, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
Officials emphasized that no action is required for Hawaiʻi residents or emergency management agencies.
