UPDATE: Authorities confirm safe recovery of Kymahni Meta in Hilo

UPDATE: 1:30 p.m. May 5 | Authorities report that 13-year-old Kymahni Mata, previously reported as an endangered runaway, was found in Hilo in good health at 1:40 p.m. on April 28.

Original Post: Hawaiʻi police are seeking Kymahni Mata, 13, who has been reported as an endangered runaway.

Mata was last seen in Keaukaha at 6:50 a.m. wearing a Hilo Intermediate School shirt and black shorts. He is described as Hawaiian, 5 feet 1 inch tall and 98 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes and a tan complexion.

Mata is considered endangered due to his age. Anyone with information that can assist in safely locating Mata is asked to call 911 or the nonemergency line at 808-935-3311.
