20 lane closures scheduled during week of May 2-8 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 20 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways on weekdays throughout the week of May 2-8.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 4 and 7 in the vicinity of Lama Street and Old Government Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for cutting vegetation.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 20 and 22 in the vicinity of North Glenwood Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for shoulder work and mulching trees.

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 36 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 4-8 for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

PĀHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 46 and 48 in the vicinity of Kapāpala Ranch Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for cutting vegetation.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 62.3 and 65.9 in the vicinity of Kamikina Street, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 4-8 for striping side roads leading to Highway 11.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 91 and 93 in the vicinity of ʻŌhiʻa Malu Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for tree trimming and vegetation cutting.

HONALO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 113.2 and 113.5 in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and St. Paul Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for installation of speed humps and speed table.

KEAUHOU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 114 and 115 in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puʻuloa Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for cutting vegetation.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 5 and 8 in the vicinity of Kāhoa Place and Indian Tree Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for cutting vegetation.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 11.5 and 15 in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, from May 2-8 for pavement work. One lane open for alternating traffic.

PEPE‘EKEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12 and 15 in the vicinity of Cane Road and Chin Chuck Road, from May 4-8 for shoulder work. One lane open for alternating traffic.

HONOMŪ TO HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 13 and 15 in the vicinity of Pua Lane and Chin Chuck Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for vegetation cutting.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 17.9 and 18.2 in the vicinity of Government Main Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for work on Nanue Bridge.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 29.8 and 32 in the vicinity of Kaʻawaliʻi Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU TO KAIMŪ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 21 in the vicinity of Māmalahoa Highway and Kaimū-Chain of Craters Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for removal of existing striping and apply new striping and permanent markers.

KEAʻAU

  • TWO LANE CLOSURE in the northbound direction near mile post 2.5, in the vicinity of ʻŌpūkahaʻia Street, from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 4-6 for replacing of four traffic detection systems.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.0 and 1 in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for installing new striping and turn pockets.

HIGHWAY 250

KAPAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.4 and 3.1 in the vicinity of ‘Ōhi‘aku Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for shoulder repair work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

HIGHWAY 270

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 1 and 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4-8 for bridge clearing.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2 in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4-8 for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
