As of now, the meeting is scheduled to take place on March 16 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center at 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway. State officials say the meeting could be rescheduled due to weather.

The master plan is the long-range planning document used to guide future improvements at the airport. Some proposed improvements include:

  • Expanding and modernizing terminal facilities to accommodate projected air service demand.
  • Maximizing land use potential through strategic non-aeronautical developments that drive sustainable revenue growth for Hawaii Island and the state.
  • Enhancing airport infrastructure to improve readiness and response capabilities for weather disruptions.
  • Developing a phased and feasible approach for master plan projects that allows flexibility for adjustments based on future usage projections.
  • Developing strategies to enhance airfield safety and improve landside connectivity.

The public is invited to attend to review the preliminary findings of the facilities requirements and share questions and feedback with the project team.
