Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park is working with the National Park Service Office of Health and Safety and the Hawai‘i Department of Health after a person confirmed to have measles visited the park on March 3.

According to the Hawai‘i Department of Health, the individual was in the park between noon and 6 p.m. and traveled through the Welcome Center at Kīlauea Military Camp and other outdoor locations.

Individuals who were inside the welcome center during that time may have a higher risk of potential exposure, according to a news release from the park on Wednesday.

The Hawai‘i Department of Health is leading the public health response. Anyone who visited the park between noon and 6 p.m. on March 3 and has questions or concerns about possible exposure should contact the Hawai‘i Department of Health:

  • During business hours: 808-286-8349 (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday)
  • After hours and weekends: 808-368-6100
