Hawaiʻi Supreme Court Judicial Council seeks applicants to fill a vacancy on the state Campaign Spending Commission.

The term runs through June 30, 2027.

Members of the commission serve on a voluntary basis. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, residents of Hawaiʻi and cannot serve in any other public office.

Reasonable expenses — including for travel — incurred while serving on the panel will be reimbursed.

Campaign Spending Commission members — who are appointed by the governor from a list of nominees from the Judicial Council or reappointment of a commissioner whose term expired — are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the integrity and transparency of the campaign finance process by enforcing the law.
  • Educating the public.
  • Administering public financing.
  • Training campaign committees to encourage compliance.

Those interested in serving in the vacant commission seat should submit an application along with a résumé and three letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s character and integrity.

Applications must be post-marked, emailed, faxed or hand delivered by March 13 to:
