The Hawai‘i Police Department, in conjunction with the Mynah Byrdz Baseball Club, will host the fourth annual HI-PAL Tee Ball/Coach Pitch Baseball Tournament on Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hualani Baseball Park, 150 Baker Ave., in the Keaukaha area of Hilo.

Twenty-one teams from across Hawai‘i Island, comprised of keiki ages 4 to 8, will participate in the tournament, according to a news release from Hawai‘i Island police. The event is free and open to the public.

HI-PAL is a program of the Hawai‘i Police Department in which officers interact with youth through sports and other activities while serving as mentors. The program encourages teamwork, citizenship, and responsibility while strengthening trust between youth and law enforcement.

Members of the police department’s Hilo Community Police Section will be on site on both days providing free Keiki ID services.
