Six World Golf Hall of Famers to return for Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai
Six members of the World Golf Hall of Fame are set to play in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai, which opens the PGA TOUR Champions 2026 season, Jan. 22-24, on Hawai‘i Island.
The 2026 event marks the 30th anniversary of it being held at Hualālai.
“We are excited to announce Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Bernhard Langer, Davis Love III and Vijay Singh as the six Hall of Famers who will return to Hualalai for another wonderful week in 2026,” said Tournament Manager Kelly Fliear. “Having these legends around for all the activities during tournament week is part of what makes this event so special year after year.”

Els returns to Hualālai as the defending champion, notching a two-stroke triumph over a trio of players in 2025. The South African went on to finish No. 4 in the 2025 Charles Schwab Cup standings after collecting 13 top-10 finishes during the season. The 2026 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai will be Els’ seventh appearance at this event.
Sixty-eight-year-old Langer is a three-time winner of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai (2009, 2014, 2017). He will make his 19th appearance in 2026. The German holds the PGA TOUR Champions record for most wins all time (47) and looks to extend his record as the oldest winner in Champions Tour history when he tees it up in Hawaii later this month.
66-year-old Couples is a four-time runner-up at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai (2010, 2014, 2017, 2020) and will make his 16th appearance in 2026. During the 2025 campaign, he earned three top-10 finishes in eight starts.
Goosen, Love III and Singh round out the list of World Golf Hall of Fame members in the 2026 field. Goosen, who won the 2025 Sanford International, will make his sixth appearance in the season-opening event. 61-year-old Love will make his fifth appearance at Hualalai and first since 2021. Sixty-two-year-old Singh will make his 10th appearance at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship, having earned three top-10 finishes in nine starts.
A total of 27 members of the World Golf Hall of Fame have competed in the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai since 1997. Hale Irwin (1997, 2007), Larry Nelson (2001), Tom Kite (2002), Langer (2009, 2014, 2017), Tom Watson (2010) and Els (2025) are the Hall of Famers who have won at Hualalai.
