Hawai‘i Police Department advises motorists that one lane is open on Māmalahoa Highway near the 56-mile marker in South Kohala.

Road crews continue to work on removing wires that fell on the road earlier today (Dec. 31).

Contraflow traffic was initiated in the area, and the highway is estimated to remain with one lane of traffic for the next several hours.

A traffic crash near Waikelehua Place caused the wires to block both lanes of traffic earlier this morning on Māmalahoa Highway.
