Update: Portion of Route 11 in Puna reopens following traffic crash

9:55 a.m. Dec. 17, 2025 update: Hawaii Police Department reports that the Hilo-bound lanes of Route 11 at the Macadamia Road intersection are open to all traffic.
Original post: A section of the Hilo-bound lanes on Route 11 in Puna is closed following a vehicle crash for the next hour.
According to Hawaii Island police, motorists are advised to avoid the area near the intersection of Macadamia Road and to drive with caution.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
