UPDATE: Nānāwale Boulevard in Pāhoa again open to all traffic

Update at 9:41 p.m. Dec. 16, 2025: Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Nānāwale Boulevard in Pāhoa is again open to all traffic. A portion of the roadway between the intersections of Kēhau Road and Center Lane was previously closed because of a structure fire.

Police thank the public for its cooperation.

Original story published at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025: Hawai‘i Police Department advises the public to AVOID Nānāwale Boulevard in Pāhoa, between the intersections of Kēhau Road and Center Lane, because of a structure fire.

Authorities say to stay away from the area for at least the next 4 hours.
