UPDATE: Part of Highway 11 near 23-mile marker in Volcano again open to all traffic

Update at 10:13 p.m. Nov. 29, 2025: Hawai‘i Police Department reports that Highway 11 near the 23-mile marker is now again open to all traffic after previously being impacted by a downed utility pole.

Police thank motorists and the public for their cooperation.

Original story posted at 8:18 p.m. Nov. 29, 2025: Motorists are advised to avoid a portion of Highway 11 in Puna for the next several hours.

Hawai‘i Police Department reports that a utility pole is down near the 23-mile marker in Volcano. Utility crews are responding.
