Quarterly meeting scheduled for Hāmākua Energy
The community is invited to attend a quarterly information meeting by Hāmākua Energy.
The meeting is scheduled on Nov. 18 from 6 to 7 p.m.
During the information meeting, Hāmākua Energy, previously owned by Pacific Current, the company now operates as Hāmākua Holdings, will introduce the newest members of the team, provide an update on its activities from this past year as it wraps up its 25th year of service, and share its plans to make Hawai‘i Island more energy resilient.
Hāmākua Energy supplies 20% of the electricity on Hawai‘i Island, and is continuing its ongoing partnership with Hawaiian Electric Company to deliver reliable, cost-effective energy to feed the utility’s grid for island residents and businesses.

Hāmākua Energy is located in Honoka‘a. The company focuses on delivering reliable, affordable energy and serves as a catalyst for Hawai‘i’s transition to zero carbon, energy self-sufficiency and resiliency, according to a news release from the power company.
Hāmākua Energy’s power plant can generate up to 1,440 megawatt-hours of electricity a day, which powers roughly 50,000 homes on Hawai‘i Island.
