5 people arrested on multitude of charges during sweep of old Hilo Hotel in downtown Hilo
Five people were arrested on a multitude of different charges Friday morning (Nov. 14) during a multi-agency sweep of the old Hilo Hotel in downtown Hilo.
The five people arrested were:
- 31-year-old Kapono Ikaika-Cruiuz Labrador: Arrested and charged with violation of parole (no bail) and criminal contempt of court (bail $150).
- 33-year-old Stephen K. De La Cruz: Arrested and charged with criminal contempt of court (bail $1,000).
- 38-year-old John K.K.T. Hauoli: Arrested and charged with summons or arrest on probation no bail (bail $5,000).
- 33-year-old Stetson Kaholo: Arrested and charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug (bail $20,000) and summons or arrest on probation no bail (bail $5,000).
- 37-year-old Keli‘i Makana Cruz: Arrested and charged with summons or arrest on probation no bail (bail $5,000), two counts of second-degree burglary (bail $2,000 for each), two counts of second-degree theft (bail $2,000 for each), fourth-degree criminal property damage (bail $2,000) and fourth-degree theft (bail $500).
Officers from Hawai‘i Police Department Area I Crime Reduction Unit and Hilo Community Policing Section as well as Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources executed a search warrant at the former hotel on Kino‘ole Street, directly across from Kalākaua Park.
It was part of an effort to locate and apprehend fugitives known to frequent the property to evade detection and arrest.
