Several Kamehameha Park facilities in Kapa‘au closed because of water main break

Several facilities at Kamehameha Park in Kapa‘au are closed until further notice because of a water main break.

Hawaiʻi County Parks and Recreation reports that the water main break left some park facilities without water and damaged a parking area and roadway.

Shuttered facilities include the gym, community center and swimming pool.

Portions of Kamehameha Park closer to the entrance, including the playground and Shiro Takata Field, fortunately remain open and accessible.

Hawaiʻi County Parks and Recreation is working with Hawaiʻi County Department of Water Supply and Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works to make the necessary repairs to reopen park facilities.

Parks and Recreation appreciates the community’s patience during the temporary closure.
