Come be part of an important turning point in the pages of Puna’s history books

Members of the public and all Upper Puna communities are invited to become characters in perhaps one of the most important page turning points in the area’s history books early next week.
A groundbreaking and blessing ceremony for the new public library that will serve Upper Puna communities is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 10 at the facility’s future location next to Keaʻau Public and School Library, located at 16-571 Keaʻau-Pahoa Road, in Keaʻau.
Hawaiʻi State Librarian Stacey Aldrich will attend to share comments with those who attend the milestone moment for the community. State and local elected officials also were invited to attend to offer their remarks.
The new library — when completed — will better meet the needs of the Upper Puna communities with more space for book collections, programs, patron seating and community meetings and events.
Services now provided by the Keaʻau and Mountain View public and school libraries will be merged once the new library is finished.
