Large-scale, multinational military training kicks off Nov. 3 at Pōhakuloa base on Big Island
Tropic Lightning Soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division will lead a large-scale readiness training exercise, the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center, or JPMRC 26-01, starting Monday through Nov. 17.
This exercise will take place on O‘ahu, Maui, Hawai‘i Island at Pōhakuloa Training Area and Luzon, Philippines.

JPMRC 26-01 is the “premier” regional combat training center rotation designed to validate the operational readiness of the 3rd Mobile Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, as one of the Army’s first Mobile Brigades, U.S. Army officials stated in a news release.
“This exercise highlights the Army’s ability to operate in contested environments, project long-range precision fires, and strengthen joint and multinational interoperability,” according to the release.
Supported by the 196th Infantry Brigade and U.S. Army Pacific, the joint training will include thousands of participants, including U.S. joint forces and military personnel from seven partner nations: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Maldives, France, New Zealand, and other multinational partners.
Residents can expect an increase in helicopter, cargo aircraft, and unmanned aircraft systems flights.
Army officials put out a noise advisory, stating there will be an increase in fixed-wing and rotary aircraft over Hawai’i Island during the exercise. Aircraft may include military C-17s, civilian jets, helicopters, and small aircraft.
Flight times will vary between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. with paths to Pōhakuloa Training Area from on and off-island.
“Our commitment to the surrounding community is of the utmost priority and we appreciate your continued understanding and support,” Army officials stated.
Military convoys will also be present. Exact times and routes will vary based on the training scenario.
Additionally, the military training at Pōhakuloa will employ inert practice rounds to reduce environmental impact and unexploded ordnance risks.
To report concerns related to noise or training, community members can call the U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii Community Relations office at 808-787-1528 or email usag.hawaii.comrel@army.mil.
