12 lane closures scheduled during week of Oct. 19-24 on Hawai‘i Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 12 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Oct. 19-24.

HIGHWAY 11

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 17 and 19, in the vicinity of Lehuanani Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for mowing and shoulder work.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

PĀHALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 50 and 55, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

PAPA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 85 and 96, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Kaʻohe Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping and pavement markers.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 97 and 99, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 27.5 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and Old Volcano Road, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for Hawaiian Electric installing new powerline poles.

HIGHWAY 19

HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 15.1 and 15.6, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for installation of construction signs for work on Hakalau Bridge. DETAILS: Click here.

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kawaihae Road possible in either direction between mile posts 59 and 66, in the vicinity of Haleʻaha Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass and tree trimming.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between miles post 18 and 19, in the vicinity of Old Government Road and Old Māmalahoa Highway, on Monday, October 20 to Friday, October 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for bridge maintenance.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 18 and 21, in the vicinity of Old Government Road and Kaihuiki Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for grading and shoulder work.

PEPE‘EKEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 10 and 11, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for cutting grass.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Pūʻainakō Street possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 amd 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20-24 for striping, installing new raised pavement markers and traffic signal loops.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
