13 lane closures scheduled during week of Oct. 11-17 on Hawai‘i Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 18 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways during the week of Oct. 11-17.

HIGHWAY 11

MOUNTAIN VIEW

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 15 and 17, in the vicinity of North Kopua Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for mulching, mowing, and shoulder work.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 71, in the vicinity of Kahuku Ranch Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 66 and 67, in the vicinity of Kamikina Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for cutting grass.

PAPA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 85 and 96, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Kaohe Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for removal of existing striping, installation of centerline rumble strips, new striping and pavement markers.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Māmalahoa Highway possible in either direction between mile posts 94 and 96, in the vicinity of Kaohe Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for cutting grass.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 27.5 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and Old Volcano Road, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for Hawaiian Electric installation of new powerline poles.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Volcano Road possible in either direction between mile posts 28.3 and 28.4, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 13-17 for maintenance on rumble strips.

HIGHWAY 19

HAKALAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 15.1 and 15.6, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for installation of construction signs for work on Hakalau Bridge. Details: Click here.

HILO TO PEPE‘EKEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 5 and 10, in the vicinity of Kāhoa Place and Kulala Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for cutting trees and shoulder work.

KAWAIHAE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kawaihae Road possible in either direction between mile posts 63 and 67, in the vicinity of Waiʻula Drive, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for cutting grass.

PEPE‘EKEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Hawaiʻi Belt Road possible in either direction between mile posts 8 and 10, in the vicinity of Indian Tree Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for cutting grass.

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Kawaihae Road possible in either direction between mile posts 58 and 60, in the vicinity of Ko Uka Street and Ohina Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for tree trimming and shoulder work.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE on Pūʻainakō Street possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13-17 for striping, installing new raised pavement markers and traffic signal loops.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
