Kona Orchid Society’s fall show and sale showcasing plants from 20 local growers

The Kona Orchid Society’s 40th fall show and sale with products from nearly 20 local nurserymen and artisans will take place on Sept. 27 at Makaeo Pavilion at Kona Old Airport State Recreational Area.
Admission is $2 cash for the event that runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There also is a $20 early bird admission from 8 to 9 a.m. for up to 100 attendees seeking exclusive first access to sale plants and a complimentary cup of coffee.
Early bird tickets are now on sale on the Kona Orchid Society website.
The event features a display of blooming orchids by club members and a sale with a wide selection of healthy plants from orchid growers hailing across Hawai‘i Island.
Kona Orchid Society organizer Bob Zeller said nearly 20 local nurserymen and artisans will offer products that include: potted orchids, cactus, succulents, air plants, anthuriums, heliconia, bonsai, protea, native plants, bamboo, fruit and forest trees.
Also for sale will be a wide variety of crafted jewelry, resin orchid flowers, tropical scenes on wood, clothing, purses, pottery and stained glass. Tasty treats include jams, jellies and Kona coffee.
