Police, library join forces to make sure keiki have identification
Hawai‘i Island police and Hilo library officials are partnering together to make sure Big Island keiki have identification when it’s needed.

The public is invited to a free keiki identification event from noon to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Hilo Public Library.
Hawai‘i Police Department Hilo Community Policing Section is hosting the event, which provides parents and guardians with the opportunity to obtain ID cards for their children.
A keiki ID card includes a child’s photograph, fingerprint and other vital information that can assist police in the event of an emergency.
Wednesday’s event marks the beginning of a partnership between Hawai‘i Police Department and Hilo Public Library to host semi-regular keiki ID opportunities for families who might have missed previous events.
The department encourages families to attend and take advantage of the free service.
Hilo Public Library is located at 300 Waiānuenue Ave.
