Scheduled Hawai‘i Island lane closures on state roadways for Aug. 17-22

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for state roadways on the Big Island during the week of Aug. 17-22.

HIGHWAY 11

HŌNAUNAU

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 103 and 105, in the vicinity of Ki‘ilae Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

KURTISTOWN TO MOUNTAIN VIEW

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 10 and 13.5, in the vicinity of Hale Pule Loop and Old Volcano Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for mulching, cutting grass and shoulder work.

NĀʻĀLEHU

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 60 and 69, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for restriping, installation of centerline rumble strips and pavement markers.

OCEAN VIEW

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 70 and 76, in the vicinity of Easement Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for removal of existing striping, striping, installation of centerline, rumble strip and pavement markers.

PĀHALA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 44 and 46 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for cutting grass.

PAPA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 84 and 86, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for removal of existing striping, striping, installation of centerline, rumble strip and pavement markers.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 89 and 93.5, in the vicinity of Papalani Place, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for removal of existing striping, striping, installation of centerline, rumble strips and pavement markers.

VOLCANO

• ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 27.5 and 28, in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for Hawaiian Electric to install a new pole and wiring.
• SHOULDER CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 30 and 31, in the vicinity of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for paving at the entrance of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

HIGHWAY 19

PAUKAʻA TO PĀPAʻIKOU

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 5 and 6, in the vicinity of Kāhoa Place and Kaʻaukai Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for mulching, tree trimming and shoulder work.

PEPE‘EKEO TO HONOMŪ

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 11 and 14, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for cutting grass.

WELOKA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction in the vicinity of mile posts 22.5 and 22.8, in the vicinity of Uweki Road and Koi Loop, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20-21 for maintenance on Kapehu Bridge.

PĀPAʻALOA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23 and 24, in the vicinity of Koi Place and Pāpaʻaloa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for bridge maintenance.
• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 23.5 and 23.7, in the vicinity of Middle Road and Kekoa Camp Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 20 for maintenance on Moanalulu Bridge.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 12.2 to 16.4, in the vicinity of Saddle Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for striping of lane lines, turn pockets, and direction arrows.

KALALOA

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 33 and 35, in the vicinity of Kaiminani Drive and Hina-lani Street, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for tree trimming, cutting grass, and shoulder work.

HIGHWAY 270

HĀWĪ

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 14 and 20, in the vicinity of Kapaʻa Park Road and Kohala Schools, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 18-22 for tree trimming and shoulder work.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

• SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for striping and installing new raised pavement markers.
