National historic park on Big Island hiring for summer jobs
Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park is now accepting applications for its summer Youth Conservation Corps employment program, which starts in June.
Running from June 9 to July 25, participants will get paid to work, learn, and gain leadership skills. No prior experience is needed. The pay is $14 per hour.
Program participants will contribute to preservation and maintenance of historic sites and trails and assist with cultural demonstrations and interpretive programs.
The summer Youth Conservation Corps employment program was created more than 50 years ago. Over the last year, nearly 400 members worked in parks across the country on projects from historic preservation to trail maintenance, the arts to living history, and beyond.
Enrollees must be 15-18 years old and cannot reach age 19 during the session. Work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Housing is not available. Applications can be obtained at the park. The deadline for submitting applications is May 16.
