A two-story Puna residence was fully involved in flames when Hawai‘i County firefighters and police arrived on the scene late Saturday night.

No one was found at the scene located at 13-3505 Alapai Street. The 600-square-foot structure appeared to be under construction but unfinished, with nothing in its interior and incomplete wall siding and drywall installation.

“Only the wall frames and trusses were burning so the fire was accessible and quick to extinguish,” the Hawai‘i Fire Department stated. “Other responding units were canceled enroute.”

Firefighters received an alarm at 10:23 p.m. and had the blaze under control by 10:37 p.m. The fire was extinguished at 11:45 p.m.
