Pāhoa structure fire results in $350,000 loss
Hawai‘i County firefighters extinguished a one-story structure fire at 133348 Kupono Street in Pāhoa on the Big Island, during the predawn hours of Aug. 19.
Firefighters responding to a 2:18 a.m. alarm discovered the unoccupied building – described as a 28-by-108 wood structure with a metal roof, in a preliminary report – was fully engulfed and had been burning for some time.
The fire was under control by 2:40 a.m. and out by 3:30 a.m. The cause of the blaze that is currently unknown. A preliminary report documented the incident as a $350,000 loss.
